The University of Bath in the UK conducted a global study, surveying 10,000 young people aged 16—25 across 10 countries for the study.
Caroline Hickman, a co-lead author of the study, told NPR News that many young people have pointed out that climate change has significantly affected their daily lives. The authors of the study warned that eco-anxiety among young people should receive more attention around the world. While eco-anxiety may not be considered a mental health issue in itself, “the realities of climate change are long-term and potentially inescapable stressors; conditions in which mental health problems will worsen,” they explained.
