The Deer of Nine Colours 九色鹿

Long long ago， there was a special deer living in the mountains. Her fur was beautiful in nine different colours.

One day， a man named Tiao Da fell into a river. “Help！ Help！” he shouted. The deer heard and came to save him. Tiao Da was grateful and asked， “How can I thank you？” The deer said， “Just don’t tell anyone about me.”

One night， the queen dreamed of the beautiful deer and wanted her fur for a coat. The king sent soldiers to find the deer. Tiao Da led the soldiers to the mountains， and they found the deer.

When the deer saw the king， she told him how she had saved Tiao Da’s life. The king was angry at Tiao Da for breaking his promise and punished him. Then the deer was safe.

This story teaches us to keep our promises and to be thankful for kindness.
