A“Party”at the Orchid Pavilion我在兰亭开“派对”

“六一”国际儿童节到来，很多学校都会举行联欢活动（party）。在古代中国，文人墨客也很喜欢组织热闹、快乐的“派对”，他们称之为“雅集”。历史上最著名的雅集之一，便是东晋大书法家王羲之组织的“兰亭雅集”，著名的《兰亭集序》便诞生于此呢。那么，跟随故事，让我们去“兰亭雅集”来一番深度体会吧。

It was the third day of the third lunar month in the year 353. I held a party at the Orchid Pavilion and invited my family and friends. In the end， 42 people joined， including me.

To enjoy the beauty of spring， I made it an outdoor party. The mountains and plants around were our decorations（装饰）， and the earth（大地） served as（充当） our seats. But what about a table for food and drinks？ We used a stream（小溪）！

We played a fun game called “Drifting cups on a meandering stream（曲水流觞）”. All of us sat by the the stream and filled our cups with rice wine（米酒）. Then we let the cups float（漂浮） on the stream. If a cup stopped， the person closest to it had to write a poem（诗）.

Oh， one cup stopped in front of my 10-year-old son， Wang Xianzhi（王献之）. Haha， he was too young to write a beautiful poem. Let’s wait and see.

We wrote 37 poems that day and put them together in a book. I was so happy that I wrote a preface（序言） for the book. That’s the famous Preface to the Collection of Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion（《兰亭集序》）.
