I turned my television on after breakfast this morning. The news was full of worst things that are happening in the world.

I turned the TV off and then went over to my vinyl2 records. I opened up therecord player that my daughter had bought me a few years ago, took out a 40-yearoldrecord and put it on. The delightful3 music of my childhood filled the room andI thanked my daughter in my heart for buying this record player for me.

Just as I was thinking of her I looked out my window and saw her across theroad, in the driveway4 of her house. She was patiently5 standing between twoplates of cat food, so the two stray6 cats she was feeding wouldn’t fight each other.I knew too that when she was done she would also set out food on her bannister7 tofeed the birds living in the trees around her home.

Seeing her morning acts of love made me smile. Watching her filled my heartwith love. And in that moment the truth washed over me: “This is who we aresupposed to be! This is who we truly are! ”

Whether we live up to who we are supposed to be is up to us. The choice isyours. You can fill your days with violence8 and prejudice9. Or like my daughteryou can fill your days with peace and love. May you choose wisely10. May youchoose to be who you truly are.
