The snake always saw dolphins playing in the lake. This time, however, for the first time ever, he asked a dolphin to come over. The dolphin agreed1 to give the snake a ride and carry him to the otherside of the lake. By the time the dolphin and the snake together reached theother side, there was a feeling of something burning2 on the dolphin’s back.
The dolphin asked the snake whether he saw anything bad happening onhis back. The snake said that it was the sun’s rays3 that had burnt thedolphin’s back. The dolphin had been playing too much in the lake while lotsof sunshine made sunburns4.
The snake said that he even protected5 the dolphin’s back. He shielded6him against too much sunlight with scales7 and a wide open mouth. Theyprovided8 shade9 for the dolphin’s back against sunlight.
The dolphin thanked the snake for the protection, and the snake thankedthe dolphin for the enjoyable journey.
