However, the training initiallyproved challenging for him.“ I felt intense dizziness and disorientation after thecentrifuge (离心机) rotation training,” said the 36‑year‑old professor from the Schoolof Astronautics at Beihang University.“ So I added extra exercises, sought guidancefrom instructors, and adopted some of the training methods used by pilots.”

5 In the eyes of his colleagues, Gui is optimistic and open‑minded, rarely disturbed bynegative emotions. Even in the face of setbacks, he quickly recovers his calmness andengages in his work with passion. In his spare time, Gui enjoys calligraphy. He evenwrote his own doctoral thesis defense announcement using a calligraphy brush.
