Nationwide Celebration of the Chinese People's Police Day
Today marks the fifth Chinese People's Police Day, with public security agencies and police officers across the country celebrating through a range of activities, some solemn and some vibrant. These include raising the police flag, singing the police anthem, reaffirming the oath of service, holding honor ceremonies, and engaging in community dialogues. These events highlight the nation's public security progress in the new era and inspire a strong sense of pride and belonging among police. They also channel the support of President Xi Jinping and the Party leadership into a driving force, motivating the police to advance the modernization of public security work and fulfill their sacred responsibilities of providing strong security for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through a Chinese path to modernization.
On the morning of January 10, the Ministry of Public Security held a solemn flag-raising ceremony. Over 300 officials stood in formation as the flag of the Chinese People's Police was hoisted. The crowd sang the police anthem in unison and saluted the flag. Everyone then faced the raised flag, lifted their right fists, and recited the police oath, with their vows echoing through the venue. Later that day, the Ministry highlighted the contributions and achievements of police officers nationwide through a series of events, including a press conference, themed publicity campaigns, a special joint program, multimedia live streaming, and the release of stories about exemplary officers. These activities underscored the police force's political responsibility and loyalty in fulfilling their duties, as well as their vital role in safeguarding national security, maintaining social stability, and ensuring the well-being of the people.
In recent days, public security agencies and police officers across the country have organized a variety of celebratory activities tailored to local contexts. In regions such as Shanghai, Hubei, and Gansu, these agencies have aligned their events with the theme of the "Origin of the People's Police,"arranging for officers to visit police museums, historical archives, and halls of honor to inherit the Party's revolutionary traditions. In Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangxi, and Xinjiang, public security departments have hosted presentations on the deeds of role models and held award ceremonies to encourage officers to learn from and strive for excellence. In Shandong, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Chongqing, and Guangxi, themed reports, press conferences, and open days at police camps have been held to highlight recent achievements in policing and team development. In Heilongjiang and Jilin, Police Day celebrations have been integrated with ice and snow tourism, with officers dedicated to maintaining order and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. In Liaoning, Anhui, Hunan, and Qinghai, police departments have visited the families of martyrs, as well as the relatives of officers and auxiliary officers who died in the line of duty or got injured while serving. In Hainan, Guangdong, and Shaanxi, police agencies have launched events with the theme "Saluting the Police Flag"to foster the synergy through police-community cooperation. In Zhejiang, Fujian, Henan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Ningxia, public security agencies have marked Police Day by producing a series of themed posters and short videos, such as The Police in the Mountains, My Name, The Path of Humanity, Peace Built on Loyalty, and Guardians. Railway and civil aviation police, as well as customs anti-smuggling and national immigration management agencies, have also organized a variety of celebrations customized to their specific duties. Representatives from the Hong Kong and Macau police forces have traveled to the mainland to participate in Police Day activities, engaging in drills and exchanges with public security special forces.
During the Police Day, most police officers have remained on the frontline, in steadfast commitment to risk prevention, safety, stability, and development. In Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, public security agencies have implemented initiatives such as "Millions of Police Officers Connecting with Millions of Households"and "Talks Between Police and the People,"where officers have engaged directly with communities, rural areas, enterprises, and schools. They have actively listened to public concerns, addressing urgent issues affecting both citizens and businesses. In Tibet, public security agencies have fully mobilized for emergency rescue operations following the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Dingri County, Shigatse. They have coordinated relief efforts, emergency responses, and security patrols, working alongside relevant departments to clear roads, repair infrastructure, and maintain order. Increased patrols have been conducted in urban areas and around temporary shelters to ensure smooth traffic flow at critical points.
