Lin Lin is very upset. She hurts her arm in the backyard（后院）. She

cries a lot. Her mum cleans her cut and puts a bandage（绷带）on it.

To make Lin Lin feel better， her mum gives her a glass of water. “ Lin Lin， do you know those tears running down your cheeks（脸颊）are falling to the ground？”

“Yes， of course.” Lin Lin answers.

“Those tears go into the ground. The rain takes them to the river. And the river flows into（流入）the sea. Then the hot sun makes the wet air from the sea rise up into（升入）the sky.”

Her mum continues， “The wet air becomes clouds. The clouds move over the land and rain falls from them. That rain fills our lakes. Our drinking water（饮用水）comes from those lakes.”

Lin Lin looks at the glass of water in her hand. “You mean I’m drinking my own tears？” She says， smiling.

Her mum laughs. “Maybe！”
