Paragraph 1:
When the night for the musical performance came, the high school gymnasium was packed with parents, friends and relatives. When Robby came up on stage, his clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked like hed run an eggbeater through it. “Why doesnt he dress up like other students? Why doesnt his mother make him comb his hair for this special night?” I thought. As he began to play, his fingers danced quickly and easily on the keys. I was amazed, shocked and dumbfounded, shaking my head in disbelief. Never had I heard Robby play so well. When he ended in a grand crescendo, people were all on their feet in wild applause.
Paragraph 2:
Overcome and in tears, I ran up on stage and put my arms around Robby in joy. “Ive never heard you play like that, Robby! You brought the gymnasium down with your performance. How did you do it?” Robby explained, “Well, Miss Hondorf, remember I told you my mom was sick? Actually she had cancer and passed away this morning. She was born deaf, so tonight was the first time she had ever heard me play. I wanted to make it special.” There wasnt a dry eye in the gymnasium that evening. It is he that taught me the meaning of perseverance and love.
